A new dinosaur species has been discovered in Argentina: Gualicho shinyae.
This new member of the theropod family has tiny forearms that closely resemble those of the famous Tyrannosaurus rex. However, Gualicho shinyae is only a distant cousin of the T. rex, raising the question why would the evolution give the same “particular” trait to two distant dinosaur species?
One possible explanation is that small arms would allow to efficiently hunting preys with their huge jaws without being hindered by cumbersome arms on the way.
If this is true, you better do not laugh at a T. rex for its small arms; he has a huge and precise jaw!
